First, it was the Detroit Lions who’s undefeated streak was snapped. But then, after what seemed to be a sure win Tuesday night, the Red Wings folded up with a 4-1 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the only team in the NHL who hadn’t had a win this season. The game seemed even easier since a few nights earlier, the Blue Jackets lost a lead to the Ottawa Senators with 38 seconds left in the third period, then lost the game with 7 seconds left.

Saturday night the Wings’ suffered their first loss of the season against the Washington Capitals, who destroyed Wings 7-1. The goal Tuesday night for the Wings came in the first period from Darren Helm after R.J. Umberger opened up the scoring in the game 21 seconds into the first period.

If anything can be taken from tonight’s loss against the Blue Jackets is the that James Wisniewski wasn’t a factor for Columbus, as he was expected to be a key player coming back from an eight game suspension.

All in all, the Detroit teams have fallen for now, but both the Lions and Red Wings have a lot of season left.

Detroit Lions prediction:9-7 and a wild card winner (eliminated in the second round of the playoffs)
