Detroit Lions starting QB Matthew Stafford did practice with the team Wednesday however he was limited.

According to Anwar Richardson of Mlive.com, Stafford missed the first 30 minutes of team drills but did do some jogging and stretching after that.

Despite the ankle injury he (Stafford) suffered in Sunday’s 23-16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Stafford said he was unsure if he will be able to give it a go this coming Sunday in Denver.

“It feels okay,” Stafford said. “It’s sore, obviously, but its made progress since Sunday. Hopefully it will keep making progress.”

If Stafford cannot go this weekend, its assumed that backup’s Shaun Hill or Drew Stanton will get the start.

Hill, who has 26 NFL starts since 2002, was taking snaps with the first team offense Wednesday.

Detroit will have their bye week after this weekends game in Denver. However the thought of giving Stafford two weeks off to rest his ankle will not factor into his decision on whether or not to start him against the Broncos.

“Getting better everyday,” Schwartz said. “Hopefully we can keep him on that track. If he’s able to go on Sunday, he will. He’s our starting quarterback, but we got to be prepared in any case.”

Aside from Stafford, running back Jahvid Best still wasn’t able to practice Wednesday as he continues to recover from a concussion.

Schwartz didn’t say when he expected Best to return…

“I mean, it’s really yet to be seen,” Schwartz said. “I sort of press a button when I start talking about concussions. Every one is different. Some guys respond differently. You can’t put any of them in a box. You can’t say – we, as coaches, we always do – ‘Hey, it’s a high ankle sprain. How long do you expect the guy to be out?’, or it’s a hamstring, or it’s a shoulder.

“You sort of have a general idea (of recovery time). With (concussions), you have to be objective and we’re going to follow recommendations that doctors give us, and as soon as we can, we’re going to get him on the field.”
