As the deadline approaches (12AM Tuesday morning) to tender player contracts, the Detroit Tigers are expected to tender outfielder Delmon Young a contract despite rumors that he will be dealt this offseason.

Young made $5.38 million last season and could get a $1 million dollar salary bump for 2012.

Even though it looks like the Tigers will tender Young, it doesn’t mean that he is a lock to return next season.

According to ESPN’s Jim Bowden, the Braves may revisit trade talks in which they would receive Delmon Young and in turn send second baseman Martin Prado to Detroit.

The Tigers have also expressed interest in outfielder Coco Crisp and if the Braves and Tigers strike the deal we’ve been hearing about Crisp would play left field right beside Austin Jackson.

Tigers do not tender Will Rhymes

The Tigers have decided they will not offer a contract to infielder Will Rhymes. Rhymes had 99 plate appearances for the Tigers in 2011 splitting time with Detroit’s Triple-A affiliate in Toledo. He hit .235 with two RBIs.

Since the Tigers didn’t offer Rhymes a contract he will become a free agent.
