After Sunday night, the only Detroit professional team still undefeated is the Red Wings. The Lions, who were 5-0 (the first time since 1956), lost to the San Francisco 49ers. The game was close as the Lions fought until the last second, trying to remake a successful version of the Tennessee Titans Superbowl win attempt several years ago. There was a pitch back and a fumble, then the play ended when a Lions player dove onto the ball. The 49ers went crazy after they had realized they had defeated the undefeated Lions. Now the Green Bay Packers remain as the leagues only undefeated team.
The Tigers had a terrific season and a great postseason run, but in the end, the Texas Rangers came on top and tossed it in the Tigers’ face by winning Game 6 15-5. The Tigers started off with 2 runs early in the game but by the bottom of the third inning the Tigers were losing 9-2. Detroit had 4 pitching changes by the bottom of the third and by Monday, they were home in bed knowing their ALCS opponents were going to face the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.

It was a close call for the Red Wings as they beat the Minnesota Wild in OT. The scorers for Detroit were Jiri Hudler, Ian White, and Johan Franzen, who scored the overtime winner on a power play. This game left the Wings 4-0 who next take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday the 21st.

Bottom line is there’s still plenty of season left for both the Lions and Red Wings so lets just hope for the best!
