UPDATE: WXYT is reporting that the Pistons haven’t offered Stuckey a 5-year offer worth around $40-45 million dollars like Chad Ford originally reported. Stay tuned for more news on this as it develops.

ESPN NBA Insider Chad Ford recently tweeted that the Detroit Pistons and restricted free agent guard Rodney Stuckey are at an impasse in terms of their contract negotiations. Ford writes that Stuckey is balking at a 5-year offer worth around $40-45 million dollars.

According to Ford, Stuckey’s camp is apparently threatening to take the Pistons’ 1-year qualifying offer which would make him an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2012. If Stuckey were to sign the qualifying offer it would be for $3,868,443 which would be far lower than the Pistons’ original deal.

Furthermore, Ford writes that Stuckey’s agent is reportedly contracting other teams about a sign and trade deal however it seems unlikely that the Pistons would do this since it’s very apparent they would like to hold onto him.
