Free agent running back Ryan Grant was scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions’ facilities Monday in Allen Park after getting a contract offer from the team last week.

Grant however was an apparent no-show and according to Anwar S. Richardson of Mlive.com, how much interest is unknown right now.

What’s also unknown though according to Richardson is whether or not Lions officials met with Grant on Sunday instead of Monday or if the trip was cancelled altogether.

Last week, Grant’s agent Alan Herman told the Detroit Free Press that contract negotiations were ongoing and it appeared that a deal was close with Grant coming to Detroit to perhaps finalize things.

It looks as though all that could’ve been a marketing ploy to get a bidding war going between Green Bay and Detroit for Grant’s services. And at this point time will only tell if Grant was truly serious about getting a deal done with the Lions for 2012.
