Rookie Signings

Today the Lions signed second round draft pick and former Oklahoma WR Ryan Broyles to a contract. The details to the contract however were not disclosed.

The Lions also agreed to terms with fifth round selections in LB Tahir Whitehead and Albion defensive back Chris Greenwood as well as fourth-round selection Ronnell Lewis and seventh-round pick Travis Lewis.

Given the terms of the NFL’s new rookie contract structure, all selections taken outside the first round are automatically four year deals. The financial terms of these deals however were not disclosed.

The Lions are also expected to get defensive back and 6th round selection Jonte Green under contract soon.

First round selection Riley Reiff and third round selection Dwight Bentley are the only draft picks who have yet to sign their rookie deals.

Former Bucs safety Sean Jones visits Lions

The Lions had a visit from former Tampa Bay safety Sean Jones earlier in the week according to NFL writer Adam Caplan. Prior to this season, Jones signed a two-year deal with the Bucs in 2010 and had 74 tackles and one interception in 2010. In 2011 he had 92 tackles and zero interceptions.

According to Mlive.com, the Lions also hosted Washington Redskins free agent safety O.J. Atogwe, as well as Cincinnati Bengals safety Chris Crocker.
