Today Matt Patricia was finally indoctrinated into Detroit Lions culture when the team missed the playoffs after their 14-13 loss to the Buffalo Bills

Although Lions fans are use to it at this point, Patricia whose spent essentially his pro coaching career with a winner in New England missing out on the postseason is ultimately something that’s new to him. With that in mind, Patricia was asked during the postgame today how he’ll address the team going forward this season now that the playoffs are officially out of the questions.

That’s when the WJR postgame show become one unsuitable for children.

“Look, for us, it’s not different. We go out, we compete, we try to win and we try to f***ing get better every week,” Patricia said on the Lions Radio postgame show on WJR.

Despite this being Patricia’s first year at the helm head coaching an NFL team it seems plausible that the failure of the season despite who that team is. Over the course of the past four years, the Lions found winning records in three of those campaigns while ascending to the playoffs twice. The Lions won’t see a .500 record this year let alone a winning one so I’m sure not even writers over at Pride of Detroit can even find some way to spin 2018 into nothing more than an unmitigated disaster.

In any sense, I’m sure the Jim Caldwell supporters are finding some solace in all of this despite the Lions desperately needing to move on from that mediocre monstrosity.

Patricia will be back next season, as he should be and the Lions will have another opportunity to try and make the new coaching regime work. We as fans though need to remember not to get too excited with what we see on paper.
