In an expected set of moves, the Lions have tendered contracts to offensive tackle Corey Hilliard, linebacker DeAndre Levy and defensive tackle Sammie Hill.

Hilliard was assessed a sixth-round tender in which he will get paid over $1.2 million dollars in 2012. He made $525,000 this past season.

Levy, a second-round pick for the Lions was given a second around tender which will see him make $1.927 million dollars in 2012, up from the $525,000 he made last season.

Finally, Sammie Hill was given a fourth-round tender and earn $1.2 million dollars in 2012. This is up from the $525,000 he made in 2011.

Tenders are distributed to players who have less than 4 years of NFL experience. If another team wishes to sign any of these tendered players they can do so but will have to give up a draft pick pertaining to when that player was drafted. The Lions also have the chance to counter the offer within seven days or let the player walk.

Meanwhile, the Lions released tight end Will Heller who had a base salary of $900,000 dollars with a slated salary cap number of $1.3 million. The move gives the Lions a little more room to pursue free agents such as CB Eric Wright, LB Stephen Tulloch and/or signing WR Calvin Johnson to a long-term deal. This is especially the case after DT Ndamukong Suh, WR Nate Burleson and QB Matthew Stafford restructured their deals.

Heller had six receptions for 42 yards last season as well as a 10 yard touchdown reception in the NFC Wildcard game against the Saints.
