Veteran outfielder Cameron Maybin is returning for his third stint with the Tigers after signing a one-year deal worth $1.5 million with the team on Wednesday.

This isn’t a bad pickup for the Tigers who are once again reunited with their former first-round pick back during the mid-2000s before shipping him off to Florida in that mega-deal that landed Miguel Cabrera.

With the Yankees last season Maybin slashed at .285/.364/.494 with 11 home runs setting career-best numbers at the plate. And despite not being quite the threat he used to be on the basepaths, Maybin still offers the Tigers plenty of speed offensively and versatility defensively as he’s capable of playing all three outfield positions.

If anything, Maybin could end up being a decent trade chip for the Tigers at the deadline or if he sucks, the Tigers only spent $1.5 million on him with just a single season commitment.
