A potential free agent that the Pistons may have gone after this off-season may not reach even reach free agency this summer.

Chris Iott of Mlive.com cites a report from The Commercial Appeal that former Michigan State Spartan Zach Randolph is in serious talks with his current team the Memphis Grizzlies to sign a four year extension.

Randolph’s agent Raymond Brothers says that he is very confident that a deal will get done with the Grizzlies.

“I think they’re serious,” he said. “I’m optimistic we’ll get something done.”

There have been rumors this season about the Pistons going after Randolph this season and Randolph speaking out on his desire to play with Detroit. If Detroit were to add Randolph they would have to shed salary in order for it to work underneath the cap.

The Pistons are unlikely to bring back forward Tayshaun Prince and will probably continue to look into trading Rip Hamilton this off-season.
