Despite being down 2-0 in the ALCS to Texas, Tigers manager Jim Leyland is sticking to his guns and will still start Justin Verlander in Game 5.

“He was scheduled to pitch two games in this series, and he’ll pitch two games in this series,” Leyland said.

The Tigers were hoping Justin Verlander could set the tone for the series in Game 1 however that didn’t happen after the Rangers edged out the Tigers 3-2 in the series opener. Texas the took firm control of the series Monday night after they beat the Tigers 7-3 in extra innings.

Now in the 2-0 hole, Verlander says he’s preparing to pitch in either Game 4 or 5.
