The Los Angeles Clippers and Paul George have reportedly held “extensive discussions” regarding a new contract for the point guard according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Law Murray. This news comes amid rumors that the star point guard will decline his player option this offseason after reported interest from the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic.

George finished his fifth season with the Clippers since being traded LA by the Oklahoma City Thunder back in 2019. He averaged 22.6 points this past season with a.471 FT% while hitting.413 from downtown.

Clippers and Harden want new deals

Meanwhile, the Clippers and James Harden want their “partnership to continue” with the the 10-time all-star set for free agency this summer.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Law Murray, it’s unclear at this point what Harden would be seeking in terms of a new contract with LA currently on the hook for around $169M for 2024-25. However, the 34-year-old Harden who’ll be 35 before the start of next season saw his worst offensive output since his third year in the league averaging just 16.6 points per game which in turn may limit his options heading into a new NBA year.

So, with the Clippers’ dicey cap situation and limited destinations for Harden, a reunion in 2024-25 seems very plausible.
