BIG3 MVP and former Pistons killer Joe Johnson looks like he could be headed to Motown if the rumors surrounding the seven-time NBA all-star is true.

These rumblings come from Frank Isola who on SiriusXM NBA Radio stated that “from what I’m hearing, Detroit is the favorite to land Joe Johnson.”

The 38-year-old Johnson had a scheduled workout with Detroit on September 2 while also working out for the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets.

Johnson last played in the NBA during 2017-18 campaign when he spent time with the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz while shooting just 27.6 percent from three-point range. However, Johnson also isn’t too far removed from 41.1 percent mark in 2016-17 he set with the Jazz and further displayed some of beyond arc ability during his stint in the BIG3.

Johnson isn’t going to offer any kind of long-term offensive solutions for the Pistons however if they’re looking to crack the playoffs once again and are actually looking to win a game in the postseason the veteran could definitely offer up some help for Detroit. Finishing in the bottom 10 of the NBA in three-point shooting last season there’s really not any reason to believe Johnson will hurt that stellar mark. Johnson too could also certainly benefit from open looks generated by Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond.
