Detroit

The Lions love themselves some Dan Campbell.

So much so that the official announcement of Campbell being named the new head coach of the Lions seems like a formality at his point as according to CBS Sports, the two sides will wait until the end of the season until anything is finalized.

Detroit though seems to have a backup plan if things fall apart with Campbell as interim head coach Darrell Bevell has been getting some “serious consideration” for the full-time job.

At this point though, the job seems like Campbell’s to lose.

Campbell, 44, previously served as interim head coach in Miami and played tight end in the NFL. The Saints’ staff is bracing for his departure at this point, league sources said, expecting to have to fill his position in the offseason. Campbell went 5-7 with the Dolphins in 2015 and has been with New Orleans since, getting high marks from head coach Sean Payton, who has told other teams he believes Campbell is ready to run his own team.
