The Lions have added a depth running back signing former 2016 fifth-round pick Jonathan Williams while subsequentially dropping Wes Hillis to make room for the move.

NBC Sports:

Williams was a 2016 fifth-round pick in Buffalo, but failed to make the team in 2017. He moved on to the Saints after a stint on the Broncos practice squad and remained with the team into the 2018 season. He was dropped by the Saints that September and finished out the year with the Colts.

Obviously with 49 carries for 235 yards and a touchdown for Indianapolis last season, Williams isn’t going to make some grandiose challenge to unseat the duo of Kerryon Johnson and/or D’Andre Swift. He will, however, slot in alongside Bo Scarborough and Ty Johnson further down the depth chart as the Lions stock camp bodies for Allen Park.
