According to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is expected to be suspended at least two games by the NFL. The suspension is in response to an incident that took place this past Thursday where Suh repeatedly slammed the head of Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith to the ground before stomping on his arm.
Suh was immediately thrown out of the game and the Packers scored a touchdown on the ensuing play.
An official announcement hasn’t come from NFL yet however the timing of it is very critical for the Lions. If Suh were to appeal the suspension, generally he will still be allowed to play until a decision on that appeal is made. Looking ahead the Lions head south to play New Orleans next weekend then come home to play the Vikings before hitting the road again to play the Raiders. It seems that if a two-game suspension is on the horizon for Suh, the Lions would prefer have him in the lineup next weekend against New Orleans and have him serve the suspension against Minnesota and Oakland.
