Rodney Stuckey started out last season as the Pistons’ starting point guard and was thought to be the heir apparent to Chauncey Billups.

Stuckey however may find himself in a new role going forward this season.

After signing a three-year, $25 million dollar deal to remain with the Pistons late last week, Stuckey may have been pushed out of that starting point guard spot by rookie Brandon Knight who had a very nice preseason debut Friday night.

Justin Rodgers of the Detroit News reported that Stuckey has been playing off the ball in practice while Will Bynum and Brandon Knight have been working the point.

Wrote Rodgers: “With Knight making a favorable impression early, Stuckey might be seeing more playing time at shooting guard this season.”

Still the question lingers what happens to Ben Gordon who has plenty of potential but a large contract and has looked shaky so far in Detroit? If you ask me, Gordon needs to be the starting two right by Knight with Stuckey coming off the bench. Stuckey must give way to Knight and a more talented Ben Gordon.
