There are now conflicting reports about the Red Wings’ Tuesday teleconference in which goaltender Chris Osgood will announce his future plans.

Earlier, it was being reported by Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press that Osgood would announce his return to the team.

However, Ansar Khan of Mlive.com is now citing sources that the veteran goaltender will announce his retirement during the teleconference with the media. Khan goes on to say that Osgood (38) has accepted a position with the team and will be working with the organization’s young goalies.

With that potential news, the Wings are expected to sign Ty Conklin as a back-up to starter Jimmy Howard.

Osgood and Holland met this past weekend in British Columbia. Holland was going to use this meeting to gage Osgood’s outlook on next season.
