According to a report by Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, the Wings’ Tuesday 12PM teleconference will announce the return of veteran goaltender Chris Osgood to the team for one more season.

Despite having a season plagued by injury last year, James writes that the Wings explored other options including Tomas Vokoun however were unable to come to terms with anyone else. This prompted the Wings to reconsider things with Osgood.

Last season Osgood went 5-3-2 last season with a .903 save percentage and 2.77 goals-against average. Prior to a sports hernia surgery in January which ended up keeping him out of the entire second half of the season, Osgood was able to reach 400 career victories.

James wrote a few weeks back that the Wings were probably going to bring back Osgood as a back-up considering his relationship with starter Jimmy Howard and his tremendous experience, especially in Detroit.
