Chris Iott of Mlive.com cites reports coming from CBSSports.com that Platinum Equity CEO and Michigan native Tom Gores is close to completing a deal to purchase Palace Sports and Entertainment which includes the Pistons from current owner Karen Davidson.

The ownership situation has remained relatively quiet the past several weeks for the Pistons and any announcements of a near completed sale for the organization is something we’ve heard many times in the past. However Ken Berger of CBSSports.com continues to write that a deal is so close between Gores and Davidson that it is expected to be finalized at a vote by the NBA Board of Governors when it meets April 14-15.

Here is an excerpt from the CBS article…

Word in league circles is that negotiations to sell the Pistons to billionaire Tom Gores are far enough along to expect the matter to come to a vote by the Board of Governors April 14-15 in New York. League approval will be a welcome development for the organization, whose basketball operations department was paralyzed by the proposed sale. The Pistons are one of a handful of teams not to complete a single roster transaction this season.

The Pistons who are unlikely to make the post season will finish the season in Philadelphia on April 13th.
