According to various media outlets out of Florida and FOX 2 here in Detroit, Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera was arrested late Wednesday night for DUI and resisting arrest.

According to the reports, a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Officer saw Cabrera’s car engine smoking along the side of the road. When the officer approached the car he noticed smelled an odor of alcohol coming from Cabrera as well as slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Then the officer says that Cabrera said, “I am going to (expletive) kill him.”

Furthermore FOX 2 and the Florida news outlets say that Cabrera then picked up a bottle of James Buchanan’s Scotch Whisky and started drinking it.

The TC Palm out of Florida reports that Cabrera then said, “Do you know who I am, you don’t know anything about my problems,”

A deputy then put the 27 year old Cabrera in handcuffs after not following the deputy’s instructions. Cabrera also “kept running out in the road with his hands up.”

A deputy asked Cabrera to get his a patrol vehicle, and he said, “(Expletive) you.”

Cabrera then pushed off a vehicle into a deputy, who “delivered 3-4 knee spikes” into Cabrera’s left thigh.

The Tigers have yet to release a statement on the situation but you can view the full police report here.

There is also no word yet on what the MLB or Tigers organization will do to Cabrera following this second incident involving alcohol. As you may know Cabrera fell under tremendous scrutiny after being out late drinking with Chicago White Sox players during an important late season series with them. In addition to this first incident there were also reports of  domestic violence with his wife.

Stay tuned to The Majors Detroit as this continues to develop.
