Lawrence Frank and the Detroit Pistons announced Wednesday that John Loyer has been hired on as the teams third assistant coach.

Loyer previously spent four years in Philadelphia as an assistant and was most recently an assistant coach in New Jersey under Avery Johnson. He also spent five seasons (prior to Philadelphia) in Portland working many various positions.

With the Loyer hiring, Pat Sullivan won’t return to the team next season. Sullivan has been with the team since 2003-04 when he was a video coordinator during the Larry Brown era.

Loyer now joins Dee Brown and Roy Rogers as assistants for Detroit. Brown and Rogers were announced on Monday. Brian Hill who was an assistant under John Kuester last season is still in the running to be an assistant with Detroit under Frank.
