After the Lions loss to the Chicago Bears 13-7 on Monday Night Football, things got worse for an already stumbling offense as Nate Burleson was lost for the season with a broken leg.

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz announced the injury to Burleson further reiterating that the veteran wide out would be out for the remainder of the year.

The injury to Burleson occurred when he landed awkwardly when catching a 16-yeard reception on Detroit’s first offensive possession in the second half. After the play Burleson tried to get up on his own before eventually being carted off the field.

With the loss of Burleson, young receivers such as Titus Young and Ryan Broyles (who scored his first career touchdown) will be forced to step up opposite of Calvin Johnson. To further rub salt on the wound Burleson was tied for the lead on the team with the most receptions.
