This upcoming Saturday, Michigan State takes to the field against their most challenging opponent yet in Wisconsin during a prime time game from Spartan Stadium.
However, going into the matchup the Spartans may be without one of their biggest pieces on defense in William Gholston may not be available.
Gholston’s unavailability may come as a result of a Michigan State and Big Ten investigation into Gholston’s “possible sportslike conduct violation”. These conduct violations stem from Gholston punching U-M lineman Taylor Lewan and yanking the face mask of U-M QB Denard Robinson.
Michigan State AD Mark Hollis said he is still reviewing video tape and photo’s of the incidents in question.
“This is an isolated incident and coach (Mark Dantonio) and his staff will continue to emphasize the importance of maintaining one’s composure during the heat of the moment,” Hollis said in the statement.
Meanwhile, one ESPN analyst and former Lions executive Matt Millen doesn’t believe Gholston should be suspended for his actions on Saturday.
“That stuff happens on the field.” Matt Millen said Tuesday. “That is youthful exuberance right there.
“If you’re gonna suspend for that, then you better watch the whole tape and see all the other stuff that was going on as well. …
“That stuff goes on continually. Is it right? No. But it’s part of the game.”
Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler adamantly disagreed with Millen saying the evidence at hand was pretty damning.
“I completely agree,” Millen said. “It doesn’t look good. All I’m saying is that it goes on. At the next level, it goes on a little bit more.”
