“I think there’s something special about a guy getting a chance to play his entire career in one place,” Matthew Stafford said, via the Lions‘ official website.”Not many guys get to do that these days. I would love to be one of those guys.”

So Matthew Stafford would like to remain with the Detroit Lions for the remainder of his career. Whether or not that’s exactly how he feels remains to be seen however Stafford has never been the guy to stir up a bunch of shit in the media. In that sense Stafford’s proclamation isn’t any kind of jarring revelation because what is he really going to say? “I can’t fucking stand it here and can’t wait to get the hell out.”

Anyways, speculation on Stafford’s future with the Lions has garnered some attention in recent weeks as it’s been rumored the Detroit could part ways with their former first overall selection this offseason.

Despite the speculation however it still seems incredibly unlikely the Lions part ways with Stafford considering the crippling $49M in dead cap money they’d be on the hook for if they traded or released him.

Like it or not Lions fans, Stafford is probably going to be Detroit’s QB until he hits free agency in 2023.
