After cutting ties with RB Aaron Brown on Sunday, the Lions made a move to try to help bolster their running-game by signing former Redskins RB Keiland Williams.

The 220 pounder Williams played fullback for the Redskins last season at 230lbs. He ended up rushing for 261 yards in five starts.

At 5’11”, he is almost physically identical to Mikel Leshoure who was lost for the season after suffering a torn Achilles during training camp. The Lions are expected to use him in the same manner that they were going to use Leshoure this season before he got hurt running up the middle while Jahvid Best will take it outside.

Despite his size Williams does have some good athleticism. He ran a 4.52 at LSU’s pro day in 2010 and did some fill-in kick returning duties as well.
