Tuesday, the Lions brought back a familiar face by re-signing running back Kevin Smith to a one-year deal.

Terms of the contract are unknown at this time.

The move doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering the Lions, Smith and Smith’s agent Drew Rosenhaus were open in saying that all parties were interested in working together on a new contract.

The 25-year-old Smith was brought back by the Lions last season after season ending injuries were suffered by Mikel Leshoure and Jahvid Best.

Smith finished the regular season with 72 carries for 356 yards and four touchdowns, plus had 22 receptions for 179 yards and three scores. He also is a low risk option for the Lions considering his familiarity with the current system and decreasing value among running backs around the league.
