In another sign that fans are very exciting about the upcoming Lions season, the Monday night game between the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears on October 10th from Ford Field reportedly sold out in about 45 minutes when individual game tickets went on sale Wednesday at 10AM. Lions team President Tom Lewand also stated that tickets for other home games, including the annual Thanksgiving Day game are selling briskly.

“We had about 400 or 500 people in line this morning down at the Ford Field box office at around 5 a.m.,” he said. “(The line) was surprising to us in the day and age of the Internet and even toll free phone calls. People still came out to the box office to make sure they could get tickets for the Monday Night game, the Thanksgiving Day game and some of the other ones too.”

Given the way tickets are selling this season, including preseason ticket sales, there’s a very good possibility that Lions fans won’t have to suffer through any local television blackouts this season. Of course, the Lions will need to field a competitive team in order to make that a certainty.

The October 10th Monday night game will be the first Monday night game that the Lions would be involved in since October 8, 2001 when Detroit was shut out 35-0 at the Pontiac Silverdome by the St. Louis Rams.
