Lions center Dominic Raiola has never been shy about displaying his feelings towards the hometown Detroit fans whether it be flipping the bird or saying he would want to have a fist fight with them. However, even Dominic Raiola knows that Detroit deserves a winner in their professional football team and he wants to give it to them. This is according to Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com via the Detroit News.
βI understand their pain,β Raiola told the Detroit News. βI feel it. The thing is I donβt want to do this for me. This is not a selfish thing. I want to win for this franchise and the city of Detroit. They deserve better.β
Raiola was part of Matt Millenβs first draft class all the way back in 2001 and to Raiolaβs credit he has been a very loyal Detroit Lion despite playing through some very dismal seasons. The Lions have been below .500 in each of Raiolaβs 10 years, including the only 0-16 season in history, two 2-14 seasons, two 3-13 seasons and the worst road record the NFL has seen since the Dayton Triangles of the 1920s. Furthermore the Lions have won only 33 games in Raiolaβs 10 seasons with the team, however still it hasnβt gotten tot he point that he wants outβ¦
βI am not going to lie. It is hard,β he said. βIt is so frustrating to the point where you say I am so tired of this [bleep]. But quit never comes into it. Itβs just how am I going to deal with this another week?β
