In this series we are going to highlight local sports bars and restaurants in the area that may serve as an alternative to staying home on a Friday night or wasting your time and money on bad food and a generic atmosphere at Buffalo Wild Wings.

First up in The Majors: Detroit Sports Bar Spotlight is Hermann’s Olde Town Grille in the lower town area of Plymouth Michigan. Hermann’s opened up to the public in September of 2003 and since then has been an excellent place to go to and catch a game, unwind and/or just have a good time. Along with having very good food, twenty four televisions, a game room, happy hour specials and plenty of entertainment, Hermann’s goes the extra mile to be socially, economically, environmentally and even health conscious. For instance, with the large beer selection Hermann’s has made it very clear that they will support the local and state economy by having three Michigan beers on tap and in the bottle. Hermann’s is also very involved in the community often times supporting charitable organizations such as Toy’s for Tots.

As far as the food goes they have a huge menu that serves very generous portions for your dollar. You can stop in and enjoy a “Kitchen Sink Burger” which is a half-pound angus beef patty with American cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, relish,
mustard, mayo, and ketchup. Or you can have “Hermann’s Hammy” a grilled ham and melted swiss cheese sandwich with lettuce, tomato, special sauce on a hoagie roll. Both of these entries will run you about $7.95. Sound good? Well this may sound even better, a good portion of Hermann’s food is homemade avoiding all those crazy preservatives and you know what, Hermanns also uses fryer oil and grille butter to avoid the trans fat. Do you have a special diet or are you a vegetarian? Hermann’s has that covered by offering good vegetarian options such as the veggie burger, the veggie hoagie or the veggie wrap. They also offer low-carb options.

So if you are in Plymouth or if you are simply looking for a good place to eat and catch the game head on over the Hermann’s Olde Towne Grille and see what you are missing!
