As the Lions continue through training camp and preseason, it has become apparent that the offensive lineman position has become a concern.
To potentially eliminate those concerns, the Lions may bring in former Cowboys Dallas guard Leonard Davis.
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that Davis is in Michigan and looks to be in good condition.
For the most part, Detroit’s offensive line has been pretty sustainable over the years. Jeff Backus has been extremely reliable since being drafted by the Lions back in 2001. Rob Sims and Stephen Peterman both started all 16 games for the Lions last season while Dominic Raiola although a bit undersized has been reliable as well.
There’s no guarantee that Jeff Backus nor backup Jason Fox who’s had injury problems during training camp will be ready come the start of the regular season. Peterman has also been quite disappointing given the amount of penalties he’s good for game to game.
