It seems that the Lions are going in a different direction with their nickel packages, a direction that doesn’t include Brandon McDonald.

According to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News, McDonald who was apart of the Lions nickel packages during the preseason has since been taken over by Eric Wright.

Now during the regular season, it looks as though Wright will be the starting corner on the teams base defense with Aaron Berry moving into the cornerback spot during the nickel package..

McDonald obviously isn’t thrilled with the direction the Lions have taken…

“I thought I had a pretty solid preseason and camp,” he said. “Not to get too worked up on it, but obviously they feel someone else can fill that role better. I can’t control that. All I can do is keep getting better and whatever role I have on this team, that’s what I have to do.”
