Several sources including Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com have confirmed that the Lions have agreed to terms with Chicago Bears’ WR Rashied Davis.

Davis, who has some return experience and excels on special teams coverage is expected to come in and challenge for the teams fourth wide receiver spot behind Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson and Titus Young.

With the addition of Davis, this may spell the end of Derrick Williams.

Williams, who was drafted in the third round three years ago has never lived up to the abilities of a fourth wide-out or special teams player that the Lions hoped for. He is still more than likely going to be given the chance to win a spot on the roster however there’s a good chance that we may have seen the last of Derrick Williams as a Lion.

Backus Injury

Lions OT Jeff Backus has a slight muscle tear in his chest and is expected to miss the first week of practice. Lions head coach Jim Schwartz however says that he expects Backus to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Even though Jim Schwartz seemed to of brushed off the injury a muscle tear of any kind is something that fans shouldn’t really downplay.
