Lions beat writer Tom “Killer” Kowalski appeared on WDFN-1130 discussing the soon-to-be hottest name on the free agent market, Nnamdi Asomugha and the Lions’ chances of adding him to the fold for the 2011 season.
Asomugha is one of the best shut down corners in the league and his contract became voided out in Oakland after he didn’t meet certain incentives. He could instantly turn the Lions from a third place finisher in the NFC North to a serious contender in the division.
However, there is good news and bad news according to Kowalski regarding the Lions going out and making an attempt to sign Asomugha…
It might be “a longshot,” according to MLive Lions Insider Tom “Killer” Kowalski, but at least the Lions can give it a go.
Here are some other quotes given by Kowalski on Asomugha…
“It’s going to come down to money,” he said on WDFN-AM 1130. “I’m not sure the Lions can pay that much. But they’re gonna talk.
“They’re at the point now – if it was two years ago, then they wouldn’t even talk. They’re getting to a point now where they’ve got some pieces in place, and one or two guys might get’em over that hump, so I think that he’s a guy that they would definitely, at least, wanna talk to.”
