Lions beat writer Tom โ€œKillerโ€ Kowalski appeared on WDFN-1130 discussing the soon-to-be hottest name on the free agent market, Nnamdi Asomugha and the Lionsโ€™ chances of adding him to the fold for the 2011 season.
Asomugha is one of the best shut down corners in the league and his contract became voided out in Oakland after he didnโ€™t meet certain incentives. He could instantly turn the Lions from a third place finisher in the NFC North to a serious contender in the division.
However, there is good news and bad news according to Kowalski regarding the Lions going out and making an attempt to sign Asomughaโ€ฆ
It might be โ€œa longshot,โ€ according to MLive Lions Insider Tom โ€œKillerโ€ Kowalski, but at least the Lions can give it a go.
Here are some other quotes given by Kowalski on Asomughaโ€ฆ
โ€œItโ€™s going to come down to money,โ€ he said on WDFN-AM 1130. โ€œIโ€™m not sure the Lions can pay that much. But theyโ€™re gonna talk.
โ€œTheyโ€™re at the point now โ€“ if it was two years ago, then they wouldnโ€™t even talk. Theyโ€™re getting to a point now where theyโ€™ve got some pieces in place, and one or two guys might getโ€™em over that hump, so I think that heโ€™s a guy that they would definitely, at least, wanna talk to.โ€
