After suffering what was thought to be a high ankle sprain on Thanksgiving, it looked as though Lions RB Kevin Smith could have been shelved for a good portion of the season. This truly would’ve have been devastating for the Lions who in recent weeks have had a run of bad luck with injuries involving running backs. But it also would have been devastating for Smith himself who has had a rebirth of sorts with the Lions since his return.

However during Thursday’s practice, Smith had a remarkable turn around in his recovery as he was participating in team drills and appeared ready to go Sunday against the Saints barring any setback.

“Every day I got better, today is Thursday I was able to practice the full practice,” Smith noted, according to Paula Pasche of the Oakland Press. “I feel good, it’s still an ankle sprain, but it’s football.”
