NISA

It appears that both Chicago House AC and New Amsterdam FC will both be omitted from the 2022 NISA spring season after all.

First according to the Protagonist Soccer’s Knights Who Say NISA podcast, the NISA board voted 6-2 to not allow NAFC back in the league for 2022.

All of this comes after a slew of Twitter posts from over the weekend where New Amsterdam FC took shots at NISA commissioner John Prutch and his family, called for his ouster, and aired some dirty laundry from the league.

So essentially the outcome of the vote wasn’t surprising to say the least.

Nonetheless, at this point it’s unclear who voted in favor, who potentially abstained, or wasn’t present for the vote considering there were 10 active NISA clubs listed when the USSF released the U.S. Open Cup information last week.

Where Chicago fits into all of this is quite clear.

As of last week CHAC was also omitted from this year’s U.S. Open Cup and likewise the 2022 NISA season. It’s unclear if Chicago had a vote among the board members, however, you can presume they didn’t based on the news that at the end of January.

In any sense Chicago House is owned by Lindsey Morgan Sacks who is married to NAFC’s Laurence Girard so it certainly seems plausible that Chicago will also be without a league in 2022. Furthermore, NAFC rattled off the following tweets Tuesday night signaling that they along with CHAC would be looking to start a new league in 2023 with “many teams” already taking part.
