Here are some various Red Wings’ injury updates

  • Right now it looks as thought Tomas Holmstrom will play Wednesday night after being out since January 14th when he suffered a broken hand. Head coach Mike Babcock reiterated that another evaluation will need to be made Wednesday morning before Holmstrom can for sure be inserted into the lineup.
  • Red Wings’ center Valtteri Filppula will have an MRI done on his left knee after being hit by New York Ranger New York Rangers’ Brandon Dubinsky in the first minute of the third period. Filppula has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against Nashville.
  • Defenseman Brad Stuart had another X-Ray done on his jaw Tuesday. It appeared as though the bones were healing nicely and he is looking to return next week when the Wings head down to Florida to play the Lightening on the 17th or the Panthers on the 18th.
  • Wings goalie Chris Osgood took to the ice Tuesday morning without pads to see how he would react to his sports hernia surgery that was performed four weeks ago. No word yet on a return date for Osgood.
