The rivalry between Michigan and Michigan State will continue, this time it’s on the ice.

Thursday, Michigan and Michigan State both advanced to the championship game in the Great Lakes Invitational from the Joe Louis Arena.

Michigan State defeated the Michigan Tech Huskies by a score of 3-1. Despite being out shot 46-26, the Spartans were able to make theirs count as Greg Wolfe, Matt Crandell and Brett Perlini each scored in the Spartan victory.

Michigan was also able to advance later Thursday when they beat Boston College by a score of 4-2. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, BC was able to tie things up in the second before Michigan’s A.J. Treais was able to give the Wolverines the lead once again with less than five minutes left in the second. Luke Glendening iced the game for the Wolverines with an empty net goal.

Michigan State and Michigan will now play Friday night at the Joe to finish the GLI out.
