Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press writes that billionaire investor, Tom Gores has reiterated his interest in buying the Detroit Pistons while sitting court side during last night’s Lakers/Pistons game at the Staples center.
Now even though Gores said he was still interested in the Pistons, he would not comment further pending the sale of the franchise.
Ellis says that Gores was also in the stands during a Pistons trip out west to take on the Clippers where he also was very quiet on potentially buying the Pistons.

“I can’t tell you anything about that,” he said, “but I can tell you that I’m a big fan, and would I love to own the team? Absolutely.”
Back in November, it appeared that Red Wings and Tigers owner Mike Ilitch was a done deal to buy the team. Since then it was reported that Ilitch believed the asking price was too high and backed off the sale.
Gores, according to the Free Press,  is a Michigan native and chairman and CEO of the Platinum Equity investment firm in Los Angeles.
