By all accounts, MLB free agency is still in its infancy and the Tigers aren’t expected to really get into market until later this week at the earliest.
However according to Lynn Henning of the Detroit News, one free agent is making it known that he is open to joining the Tigers.
Henning writes that Dodgers infielder Jamey Carroll is interested in the Tigers however it is now known if the feeling is mutual. However, Carroll would satisfy one of the needs this offseason for the Tigers, that being second base.

Jonathan Maurer, Carroll’s agent, said Saturday that he and Carroll were exploring multiple opportunities and overtures that have been extended during a particularly hot off-season market for second basemen.
Maurer said the Tigers would be viewed “enthusiastically” by Carroll in any potential conversations, although the Tigers aren’t yet tipping their hand on targets as they begin organizational meetings today at Comerica Park.
“The Tigers are a great organization,” said Maurer, whose firm is based in Cincinnati. “Right now, we’re considering all clubs.”
Carroll, 37 has enjoyed consecutive seasons with the Dodgers where he’s hit .290 or better.
In addition to Carroll the Tigers may be interested Aaron Hill of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Martin Prado of the Atlanta Braves. Prado however could only be acquired via trade with the Braves and Henning believes that Detroit may not have the trade chips required to obtain him.
