An all women’s PPV is making its way to the WWE.

That was the ‘big announcement’ teased heading into tonight’s Monday Night Raw as Triple-H, Stephanie McMahon and Vince McMahon confirmed the PPV with the entire WWE roster standing at the end of the stage.

Michael Cole later announced the PPV will be called ‘Evolution‘ and take place from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Colosseum on Sunday, October 28. During the event the Raw, Smackdown and NXT women’s titles will be defended while also featuring the finals of the Mae Young Classic.

Since the women’s ‘revolution’ a few years ago, the WWE has made strides to expand female professional wrestling within it’s own brand. This included the establishment of two women’s titles per brand, an all women’s Royal Rumble match, the Mae Young Classic and a women’s Money in the Bank match. And although the initial ‘revolution’ has failed in someways to better establish female super stars (because lets face it, the WWE has extremely overplayed their Sasha Banks hand) it’s extremely important for the biggest pro wrestling federation in the World to continue to recognized and sanction these types of events for women. Because simply put, if the WWE doesn’t take it’s place in helping grow women’s professional wrestling beyond what it use to be it’s never going to go anywhere.
