Here are some latest news and noteworthy items for Detroit City FC as we head into 2023:

Deklan Wynne joins the Charleston Battery

Deklan Wynne is officially a former Detroit City FC player. Tuesday, DCFC confirmed that the New Zealand footballer has signed with the Charleston Battery also of the USL Championship eastern conference. News on Wynne’s potential return had been pretty nonexistent in recent weeks so his departure doesn’t come as much of a surprise. However, Sean Spence over at “Word’s About Shapes” has an interesting write-up on why Wynne potentially left City for Charleston which may have to do with his love for grass and not the fun kind.

Richard Foster announces his retirement from playing

Detroit City FC player/coach Richard Foster formally announced his retirement from playing via Instagram on Tuesday.

Again, not surprising since it seems like the idea was for Foster to take on more coaching duties for the Detroit City FC men’s team this upcoming season.

Detroit City brings back Nate Steinwascher

If you missed it yesterday, Detroit City FC officially announced the return of goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher to a two-year deal. This was a huge announcement for the club further solidifying a defense that was remarkably one of the best in the USL Championship last season. Not to mention City locking down one of the best keepers in lower-league American soccer.
