Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure pleaded guilty to marijuana possession on Friday. The second year Lions running back who missed his entire rookie season due to an Achilles injury paid a $575 dollar fine after being busted for a second time for pot possession in Berrien County in Michigan.

So with his legal troubles seemingly behind him, what does this mean for his chances of avoiding punishment in the NFL?

ESPN’s NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert takes a look at what could lay ahead for Leshoure…

“Now Leshoure will wait on any NFL discipline, something that has seemed unlikely, but isn’t entirely predictable, either. His attorney seemed to confirm Leshoure is now under the terms of the NFL’s substance abuse program, telling a judge the league is testing him two or three times per week. If that’s the case, Leshoure can probably expect a suspension if he has another drug-related incident in the next two years. We will of course let you know if anything changes in this scenario.”

In total the Lions had three players busted for pot possession this offseason in Johnny Culbreath, Nick Fairley and Mikel Leshoure.
