Detroit

Detroit City FC added more offensive firepower ahead of tomorrow’s match against the Michigan Stars.

Friday the team announced that midfielder Darwin Espinal has joined the club after a pretty successful stint with the New York Cosmos.

Espinal was also a member of the Honduras U23 team before beginning his senior career with the Tampa Bay Rowdies. More recently, Espinal played for the New York Cosmos starting in 2018 after his this stint with Reno 1868 ended. During his time in New York, Espinal scored nine goals during the Cosmos’ NPSL Members Cup seasons before making his way to the Oakland Roots on loan in 2020.

At the beginning of March 2020, Espinal and the Roots mutually agreed to terminate the loan which was transferred to Detroit City. However, later in the month as the COVID-19 pandemic began to really set in Espinal rejoined the Cosmos.
