According to Michael Rothstein of AnnArbor.com, Michigan point guard Darius Morris has declared himself eligible for the NBA draft. However, Morris will not hire an agent leaving him the option of returning to the Wolverines for his junior year.

“All my life it has been a goal of mine to play in the NBA,” Morris said in a statement. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to take this step towards that dream.

“I look forward to going through this process with the potential of playing at the next level.”

According to the report, Morris was projected to go late in the first round or anywhere in the second round by various NBA mock drafts.

This past season for the Wolverines Morris broke the Michigan all-time single-season assist record with 235, one more than Gary Grant’s 234 in 1987-88.

He now has till May 8th to withdraw from the draft per the NBA’s early-entry withdraw deadline.
