According to the Detroit News, Michigan State senior guard Chris Allen has been dismissed from the Spartan’s basketball team.
Though the exact cause is not known, it’s more than likely that it had to do with Allen violating a team rule or policy.
A statement was released by Tom Izzo through the university.
“It’s been no secret that Chris Allen’s been in a tenuous position since spring. There were multiple obligations that Chris had to meet in order to return for his senior season. While he did make progress through the summer, he has failed to meet all the obligations and will not be a part of our program this fall.”
Allen finishes his Spartan career with 7.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.3 apg, and a 39.2 shooting percentage.
While it’s good to get rid of a distraction to a team with through the roof expectations, there is no doubt that they will miss his solid three point shot. This is also a blow to the teams solid depth.
Expect incoming freshman Keith Appling to play an even bigger role this year. Perhaps we’ll be seeing Austin Thornton throw up a few more shots also.
