After an eventual week nine in college football, the AP released their latest top 25 that featured plenty of rises and falls as we march towards the first set of playoff rankings which will be released next weekend (Oct. 30).
This week though, Alabama remained on top of the field after trouncing Tennessee in Butch Jones‘ revenge game against his old team.
Beyond the Tide though Clemson took over at No. 2 after Ohio State‘s stunning 49-20 loss to Purdue Saturday night. As for the Buckeyes they fell and fell hard falling out of the top 10 to No. 11.
Michigan meanwhile leaped into the top five to No. 5 after beating in-state rival Michigan State who vanished from the rankings after heading into the weekend at 24. The Wolverines now are the top ranked Big Ten team in within the AP poll as they also emerge I the drivers seat in the Big Ten East after losses by Ohio State and Michigan State.
Washington State however was the biggest beneficiary of their win when they got past Oregon 34-20. The Cougars jumped up 11 spots to 14 while the Ducks fell seven spots to 19 after the loss.
One final notable, the SEC now has four teams within the top 10 which include Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida.
