Earlier in the week it was reported that Eagles CB Asante Samuel would re-structure his contract if it would lead to him being traded out of Philadelphia.
Upon hearing that news rumors began to circulate that the Lions could be in on a deal for the veteran defensive back given Detroit’s need at the position.
However according to NFL Network reporter Jason La Canfora, there’s no interest in Asante Samuel on behalf of the Lions. This of course could change if Samuel is open to re-negotiation or Philadelphia changes their demands. It has been reported that the Eagles are seeking a third round draft pick.
Even if progress is made between the Eagles and Lions you have to ask yourself, Is Samuel worth a third or fourth round pick? Or should the Lions keep picks and continue to build through the draft?
